Congratulations Dave and Beth! New Post 10:32 7/29/2008...Police where called! Call was made about an abandoned vehicle. Tags numbers, make and model where reported. Call was received from concerned neighbor! As more information is received, I will follow up. More just in! 1:50 on 7/17/2008 Hi everyone! An incident occured last night that I thought we should be aware of. My neighbor had a man knock on his door about 8:45 saying he was with AT&T and that he needed to come in and check his phone. Mr Spurlock told the man no, it was late and that he needed to leave. The man rudely insisted that it was not late and he needed to come in the house. at that point the man again insisted he had to get into the house and Mr Spurlock shut the door and hit the silent alarm. The police came and made a report. The man was a black man about 6"1, wearing slacks and a white shirt and tie. I called AT&T and told them about the incident, and was told that they DID have people out occasionally, but that they should have on an AT&T shirt and that they would not have to come in or check your phone. The lady at AT&T said we should probably be wary of this. With the past occurences, we can never be too careful. And the police officer said to NEVER let someone into your home unless you have called them to come out. Just keep your eyes open. Just wanted to give a heads up for a house robbed on Lincoln Way. My mom's Best friend said she saw a cream colored truck with a primer top pull into the neighbors drive way. He is young and waved as he drove by. She thought it was neighbor's Daughter's boyfriend. Later they saw the truck leaving with the lawn mower and some other equipment. Neighbor told them they were robbed. That neighborhood backs up to our neighborhood. Police say if you see anything matching the truck, to call the police. Thanks A Thank you so much for the update - ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS WAS AT HOME A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO , and someone rang her doorbell twice (which she did not answer), then jiggled the handle, and opened the door. When they saw lights, and heard the TV, they quickly closed the door and left. She was not able to get a look at them. After speaking to a friend, whose house was robbed when no one was home, the info was passed on to her that this is going on a lot. GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS, THEIR CARS, etc . Another suggestion is to keep lights on and either the TV or RADIO on, turned up loud, when no one is at home. These petty. low life scum are moving into surrounding areas and we will simply not tolerate them here and need to let them know that. New Warning for our Neighborhood!!! Last night, 07/07/2008, about 10:15p.m. someone tried to enter a home on Ridgeland Court while a teen was at home. He first rang the doorbell several times and tried the door knob. The teen did not acknowledge the door bell. He then went around to the back of the house and tried that door. He went back to the front of the house and found a hammer and plumbers wrench and went back to the front door where he left the tools on the front porch and fled. Police arrived after a call to 911.
The burglar/home invader is a tall "very large" black man with a black hoodie and the hood was pulled up over his head.
If ANYONE comes to your door that you do not recognize, acknowledge you know he/she is there by yelling through the door "I'm on the phone, I can't answer the door right now." This will usually make a simple burglar go away. Call the police even if the burglar goes away.
If you don't acknowledge the burglar is there, they think you aren't at home and attempt to enter turning a burglary into a home invasion.
Be careful, keep doors locked even during the day, keep garage doors closed and watch you neighbors homes and the streets and report anything suspicious to the Police. They have a non-emergency phone number 770-513-5100 to report suspicious activities in your neighborhood.
